Member’s Statement: Crown Lands and First Nations Communities

Mr. Coon: Many of my constituents in Fredericton South, citizens from across this province, and First Nations do not accept the decision by the previous government to sign over the Crown’s authority for Crown land to J.D. Irving or to any other company. It is not good enough for the current government to say it will consider changes to the Crown forests strategy in an attempt to make it fairer and more sustainable within the confines of the minimal authority that was left to it by the former government’s decision. The delegation of control over Crown land to private companies in this province is a scandal.

Le gouvernement a une obligation envers la population du Nouveau-Brunswick et les communautés des Premières nations de déposer un projet de loi qui annule les contrats signés avec les compagnies forestières.
