Member’s Statement – Childcare Cuts – May 7, 2015
Mr. Speaker, there is nothing more important than the care and development of our children. Their are women all over this province who have built childcare centres to provide care and early learning out of a passion for meeting children’s needs, to contribute to their healthy development and to deliver the province’s early learning curriculum. And they are so proud of what they have achieved. However, they are operating their childcare centres close to the bone, working for low wages, to keep costs for parents as affordable as possible. Taking $12,000 away from each of these childcare centres pulls the rug out from underneath them. Mr. Speaker, this government must reverse these cuts and build on our system of childcare and early learning, not undermine it. Thank You Mr. Speaker.
