David Coon to bring two bills for 2nd Reading
Fredericton – In a welcome move of multi-partisan co-operation, David Coon, MLA for Fredericton South and Leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick will bring two bills for second reading on opposition day this week: Bill 5 The Green Jobs Act and Bill 10: An Act to Amend the Education Act.
“I am pleased that my colleagues from both sides of the House recognize the importance of these bills and have agreed to this flexibility which will allow both bills to be debated,” said Coon.
The Green Jobs Act will establish the conditions needed to create more green jobs in New Brunswick.
The Act to to Amend the Education Act implements a key recommendation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada requiring the public education system to incorporate curricula on First Nations for all students in the public school system.
“I look forward to the debate on both of my bills and to see these important bills adopted by the Legislative Assembly.”
