Here is my Member’s statement. At Estimates Committee, I learned that home care agencies are not requiring increased wages for personal support workers. The Auditor General has warned that we need and additional 5,000 personal care workers in the next 5 years. This is a senior’s issue that absolutely must be address with a sense of urgency it deserves.

One of the things that’s important for us to remember is that the face of poverty in New Brunswick is predominantly female. I’m a big proponent of Basic Income in New Brunswick, it has proven to work for women in the pilot project in Dauphin, Winnipeg.
