Member’s Statement – Job Cuts -Dance of 1000 Cuts
Mr. Speaker, the government says its number one priority is to create jobs, yet since the budget was tabled all they have been doing is eliminating jobs. Teachers and paramedics are getting the axe. Small business people who run licensed daycares are having their support slashed, threatening the viability of these small businesses and the jobs they create. This government is exporting the management of the food and cleaning services in our hospitals to a foreign corporation- one that will slash jobs and wages, sucking public money out of this province for profit. Mr. Speaker, in this dance of a thousand cuts, what will be slashed next?
