Meeting with the Syrian Newcomers – Winter 2018
On January 18, 2018, David Coon, MLA of Fredericton South, met with members of the Syrian newcomer community in his riding, along with some of their First Friends. Also in attendance were members of David Coon’s staff, and representatives from Social Development.
The attendees identified some of the challenges they have been facing since arriving in Fredericton. The most common and persistent issues that were presented were housing,social development, education, finance, employment and health.
David Coon and his staff at the Constituency Office and his Legislative Office said they would follow up by delivering these recommendations to the respective bodies responsible and follow up on a number of individual situations.
