Member’s Statement: Rate of autism has been climbing
Mr. Speaker, the rate of autism has been climbing exponentially but services for those on the autism spectrum have not. While New Brunswick provides excellent pre-school services for autistic children, assistance deteriorates through school and vanishes altogether after they leave school. It is time that we do the right thing and provide much needed services for persons with autism and their families. Parents are stretched beyond what any of us can imagine. Exhausted. Abandoned. It’s time the province step in to help them and their children. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
