Fredericton –The Leader of the Green Party of New Brunswick and MLA for Fredericton South, David Coon, issued the following statement in recognition of Canada Day:

“Today as we come together with our friends, family and neighbours to celebrate the country that many of us have called home all our lives, I would like to recognize and congratulate the many new Canadians who have gained their citizenship today.

“For those of us raised in Canada, July 1st represents a chance to reconnect with the values and principles on which this country was founded, and to share them with our new neighbours, many of whom have traveled long roads to arrive here. On this day we celebrate the shared pride we feel as Canadians.

“To all who call Canada home, I wish you a safe and happy Canada Day.”
