Mr. Coon: Thanks to the invitation from the Premier, I was part of the New Brunswick
contingent of the Canadian delegation at COP21. I was honoured to be part of the delegation representing New Brunswickers and Canadians at the UN conference, which resulted in a historic agreement to limit the upheaval in our climate. According to Thomas Homer-Dixon, it is as historic as the Bretton Woods Agreement or the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to discuss the talks and what they could mean for us in New Brunswick with the Premier and the member for Albert. This sort of collaboration is exactly what we need as we move forward. My question is for the Premier. Will he continue this collaborative approach as we move forward with developing New Brunswick’s climate action plan?
L’hon. M. Gallant : Merci beaucoup de me donner l’occasion de me lever ici, à la Chambre,
pour non seulement répondre par l’affirmative à votre question mais aussi pour dire que j’étais très fier d’être accompagné du porte-parole en matière de l’environnement et, bien sûr, du député de Fredericton-Sud, qui nous a rejoint à Paris pour la conférence sur les changements climatiques. Je pense que l’événement a été un véritable succès, compte tenu de l’entente historique conclu lors de cette conférence. Oui, il est important pour nous de jouer notre rôle dans ce domaine. Pour ce faire, il nous faut travailler avec tous les gens du Nouveau-Brunswick, y compris l’opposition et le député de Fredericton-Sud, afin de savoir exactement comment nous pouvons développer un plan qui va nous aider à développer l’économie et à créer des emplois de façon responsable et durable. Je suis convaincu que nous pouvons le faire et je suis convaincu que, en travaillant ensemble,
nous serons capables d’accomplir de belles choses.
