On Canada Day Let Us Gather Together
David Coon, Green Party Leader and MLA for Fredericton South made the following statement today on Canada Day:
“Today is a day to get together with family and friends to celebrate Canada, our home. It’s a day to be out in our communities to eat together, play together, and be entertained together.
This is a time to be together, to celebrate our diversity, to honour what we have achieved and be conscious of the work that remains to be done to create a just and sustainable society.
Canada Day is a day that should bring all the peoples of Canada together, but as we know from the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the hard work of reconciliation with the aboriginal peoples of Canada lays ahead. I have no doubt that we can achieve this. We must. Let’s make this Canada Day the one where we start down that road.”
